Yale University, Nordstrom Inc. and Ask Jeeves Inc. Select Aquire, Inc. For Organizational, Intranet-Based Org Charting
IRVING, Texas - May 18, 2000 - Aquire, Inc., a leading provider of organizational charting software, announced today that Yale University, Nordstrom Inc. (NYSE:JWN) department stores and the Internet question-answering service Ask Jeeves Inc. (Nasdaq: ASKJ) have selected OrgPublisher for Intranets ™ to chart their employees using corporate intranets.
Yale University, based in New Haven, Conn., and one of the country's premier educational institutions, uses OrgPublisher for Intranets to track its facilities employees - workers in the engineering, finance, administration and information systems departments. "We use it because it allows us to publish up-to-date information about our organization without recreating information that exists in our human resource systems. People outside the facilities office may not understand the way our department is organized, so we're providing a Web-based tool that graphically illustrates this information for them," said Mike Fanara, Yale's network administrator. "And instead of each department doing its own organizational chart by passing around a piece of paper, we thought the smarter way to go is an accurate and interactive organization chart on the university intranet." Yale officials and Fanara specifically chose OrgPublisher for Intranets over the competition because of its ease of use, Fanara said. "It's easy to put together, and you can do so many things with it."
Nordstrom, founded in 1901 in Seattle by John W. Nordstrom who used his stake from the Alaska gold rush to open a small shoe store, has become one of the nation's leading fashion specialty retailers, with 106 stores in 23 states. Nordstrom reported net sales for fiscal year 1999 of $5.1 billion, a 1.9 percent increase compared to fiscal year 1998.
Ask Jeeves, incorporated in 1996 in Berkeley, Calif., was the first company to develop an Internetwide, natural-language, question-answering service for consumers who need a fast and intuitive way to find answers to their questions on-line. The company, with about 600 employees, ended its 1999 fiscal year with revenue of $22 million, compared to $800,000 for 1998.
About Aquire Aquire, Inc., based in Irving, Texas, is one of the leading providers of organizational charting software worldwide. The company serves a number of customers, including the Bank of Montreal, Colgate-Palmolive, Compaq Computers, Dell Finance Group, GTE Corp. and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., and continues double-digit growth.
